As autumn breeze brings a slight coolness, CUFE Business School welcomes a group of vibrant 2025 freshmen. On the evening of August 31, CUFE Business School successfully held the preliminary round of the 2025 CUFE Freshmen Speech Contest in Classroom 519 of the Main Teaching Building. With words as boats and ideals as sails, the freshmen made their first public appearance in their college careers here, conveying the power of youth through their voices.
A total of 7 new students actively participated in the contest. The judges included Teacher Wang Huiting (Secretary of CUFE Business School Youth League Committee and counselor of the 2025 undergraduate students), Teacher Liu Baijiang (Deputy Secretary of CUFE Business School Youth League Committee and counselor of the 2022 undergraduate students), Yang Kaijia (Head of CUFE Business School Hosting Group and first prize winner of the 2024 Freshmen Speech Contest), and Chen Yuqing (core member of CUFE Business School Hosting Group).
With the host’s enthusiastic opening remarks, the speech contest officially kicked off. Centering on the three themes of "Serve the Country Through Finance and Economics, Youth Takes Action", "My Journey with CUFE" and "Youth Meets a Prosperous Era, Strive at the Right Moment", the 7 contestants chose the most touching perspectives to deliver their speeches. With full youthful passion, they demonstrated the outstanding expressiveness and depth of thinking of the new generation of CUFE students.
At the contest site, wisdom intertwined with passion, and dreams danced with hope. Combining their personal experiences with the themes of the times, the contestants spoke either impassioned or affectionately. From the story of a youth from the border areas pursuing dreams in finance and economics, to the real experience of a student from a tea-growing area using knowledge to support rural revitalization, and to the expectations and self-outlook of entering the campus for the first time, every speech was filled with the enthusiasm of youth and the light of ideals.
They used sincere words to express their understanding and expectations for the country, the university, and youth. The speeches not only contained in-depth reflections on "serving the country through finance and economics" but also tender stories about "my relationship with CUFE", as well as passionate declarations about "striving in youth". Their youthful voices converged into touching pictures, outlining the ideal image of the new generation of CUFE Business School students.
After the 7 contestants finished their speeches, the judges commented one by one. Teachers Wang Huiting and Liu Baijiang fully affirmed the courage and potential shown by the contestants in their first stage appearance, and put forward professional suggestions on content conception and emotional expression. Yang Kaijia and Chen Yuqing, based on their own experiences, shared speech skills and details for optimizing stage presentation. The judges' comments included encouragement and recognition, precise guidance, and profound expectations for the freshmen's future college life.
Finally, Yi Jiayi won the first prize with her outstanding performance; Zheng Chaowen and Wu Feifan won the second prize; Qiu Wenting, Ma Zhuowen, and Zhang Mingliu won the third prize; and Zhao Xiaoyun won the Excellent Award. Yi Jiayi and Zheng Chaowen will represent CUFE Business School to participate in the school-level final of the 2025 CUFE Freshmen Speech Contest, continuing to convey the voice of CUFE Business School on a higher stage.
The curtain of the contest has slowly fallen, but the wonderful chapter of the 2025 freshmen has just begun. May the 2025 freshmen of CUFE Business School carry the love and courage from this contest, constantly surpass themselves and shine in their future college life. It is also expected that more CUFE Business School students will actively participate in campus activities, bravely step onto the stage to show themselves, record their growth with their voices, and write a college chapter worthy of youth and the times with their actions.
